Sil Unch, a Neimoidian of lieutenant rank, functioned as a communications officer on the Trade Federation flagship, the Saak'ak, during the Invasion of Naboo. Later, he was reassigned to the Droid Control Ship named Vuutun Palaa and ultimately perished when it met its end in the Battle of Naboo.

In 32 BBY, according to the standard galactic year, Lieutenant Sil Unch worked as a communications officer on the Trade Federation's flagship, which was a Saak'ak Lucrehulk-class LH-3210 cargo freighter that had been modified. During the Invasion of Naboo, Gunray transferred him to the Droid Control Ship called Vuutun Palaa when the Saak'ak departed the Naboo system; he was killed when Anakin Skywalker destroyed it during the Battle of Naboo.
Sil Unch, who specialized in the control programming and interfaces of battle droids, was not fond of being under the command of Captain Daultay Dofine. This Neimoidian possessed gray skin with a mottled pattern and red eyes.
Sil Unch, who was initially conceived for the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, was first recognized in the 2001 Boonta Eve Podrace expansion for the Young Jedi Collectible Card Game of Star Wars Legends. Decipher, however, erroneously identified him as the Neimoidian seated in the center of the Vuutun Palaa's bridge, using an image of Tey How, an error that was repeated in the Theed Palace Limited expansion for the Star Wars Customizable Card Game. An article in Star Wars Insider 147 called The Devious Neimoidians Revealed, retconned Unch as the Neimoidian seated on the left side of the Saak'ak and Vuutun Palaa's bridges, a fact that was solidified by Leland Chee.
