A clash occurred in 231 BBY on the planet Xais between the Jedi Order and the Nihil, a band of marauders. The event began when Jedi from Starlight Beacon, defying the directives of the Jedi Council, initiated an infiltration of the Nihil Tempest, sending Jedi Knights Keeve Trennis and Terec as undercover operatives. The Jedi's true identities were exposed on Xais by their previous associate, the captured Myarga Anjiliac Atirue. As the Jedi tried to flee, they engaged the Nihil in combat, only to be confronted by Lourna Dee, the Tempest Runner whom the Jedi had presumed deceased, who deployed the Great Leveler, a biological weapon, against them. Reinforcements arrived aboard the Ataraxia, including Jedi Master Sskeer, who engaged the Nihil with considerable force and violence, to extract Trennis and Terec. While the Jedi succeeded in rescuing Trennis and a partially petrified Terec, they failed to apprehend Dee, who made her escape.
