Skittermouse

Skittermice were creatures of the night that lived on the planet of Jakku. These hardworking and persistent beings traversed the deserts during the night, seeking sustenance and discarded materials to construct their homes and underground shelters. They were hunted by a variety of predators, including ripper-raptors, pole-snakes, and the dangerous vworkka bird.

Biology and appearance

The skittermouse was a small animal characterized by fragile forelimbs, diminutive claws, and teeth resembling scissors. Their method of communication involved squeaking sounds. Their nests were built within burrows, frequently simple openings in the stone or sand, and they were lined with various scavenged scraps, such as boot leather, hair, and even fingernails. Skittermice in groups would completely devour a deceased body, forming a large, moving cluster over the cadaver until only the bone remained. After finishing the construction of their nests, skittermice would find larger items to use as plugs for their burrows, protecting themselves from predators.

Skittermice, inhabitants of the deserts of the planet Jakku, emerged during the night when the ground temperature decreased, making it easier to walk. They moved silently across the sands and were recognized for their speed. They were hunted by the equally stealthy vworkka bird, which would wait above and then dive down to capture them, as well as by ripper-raptors. Pole-snakes were known to invade their burrows. However, skittermice were generally small enough to go unnoticed and slender enough to squeeze into tiny spaces in their quest for food and salvage.
