Soganti then made an offer to another smuggler, who would later become known as the Voidhound, suggesting they betray Thorne. However, the smuggler instead alerted Beryl to Soganti's pursuit, enabling her to escape. Subsequently, the smuggler managed to leave Taris undetected, bypassing Soganti with the aid of falsified documents.
The Republic Customs Office dispatched Agent Soganti to Taris during the Cold War. His assignment was to monitor smuggling operations entering and exiting the planet. His inherent suspicion led him to conduct frequent searches of Beryl Thorne's storage facility, but he consistently failed to find any illicit goods.
In the year 3643 BBY, Soganti extended a greeting to a captain of a Corellian XS stock light freighter - who would eventually be known as the Voidhound - upon their arrival at Olaris Spaceport. After the Voidhound returned to and exited their ship, Soganti approached them. He demanded that the captain confess how Thorne was smuggling artifacts off Taris, even proposing a substantial payment in return for their testimony.
