Solari crystal
The Solari crystal
Among the Jedi Order's most ancient and potent lightsaber crystals was the Solari crystal. This light orange gem could only be wielded by a Jedi with a pure spirit and unwavering dedication to the light side of the Force. It was impervious to the dark side's influence, and its functionality depended on the wielder's unwavering purity of heart.
Historical Account
Once in the possession of Jedi Master Ood Bnar, he gifted it to Shaela Nuur, his promising apprentice, trusting in her unwavering commitment to the Light side. However, during the Cleansing of Korriban at the conclusion of the Great Hunt, after her Jedi comrade Duron Qel-Droma succumbed to a Terentatek within the Tomb of Naga Sadow, Nuur began to feel the seductive allure of the Dark side of the Force, desiring only vengeance on the creature that had slain her friend and lover. In response, the crystal deactivated her lightsaber while she was caught off guard by her prey and another Terentatek, ultimately leading to her demise and leaving the fate of the Solari crystal a mystery. Years later, Revan discovered the skeletal remains of a human near two Terentateks. After vanquishing the Sithspawns, the redeemed Jedi unearthed a datapad that had belonged to Nuur, along with a Solari crystal.
Other Versions
While rare, finding other Solari crystals was not as challenging as acquiring some of the rarest crystals, such as the Kaiburr crystal or the companion crystals known as the Heart of the Guardian and the Mantle of the Force. The solari crystal was only visible during the late evening hours and could be found on the planet Sacorria, a peaceful yet secretive world, as well as the frozen planet of Rhen Var. When used in a lightsaber, this crystal would broaden the blade, thereby enhancing a Jedi's ability to deflect incoming blaster fire.
While Shaela Nuur's particular crystal exhibited an orange tint, other solari crystals were capable of imbuing a lightsaber's energy plasma blade with a spectrum of different colors.
Behind the Curtains
Despite the Solari crystal's association with the light side, the Heart of the Guardian and Mantle of the Force lightsaber crystals could negate the light side requirement, enabling individuals not aligned with the light side to utilize the crystal.
