Solem, located within the Outer Rim Territories, served as the original homeworld for an unidentified species, and is identified as a planet.
Following the destruction of the first Death Star during the Battle of Yavin, the Galactic Empire violently subjugated Solem as a display of their dominance. Throughout the Galactic Civil War, Imperial Governors Yolan and Malvander Bren governed Solem from an Imperial base located in the city of G'ai Solem. Nevertheless, Yolan came to understand the Empire's malevolence, and he abandoned his post to fight with the resistance.
Malvander's efforts to crush the Solem rebellion were marked by extreme brutality. His tactics resulted in ten Solem deaths for every Imperial loss, causing widespread devastation across Solem. The expensive war crippled Solem's economy, leaving Malvander with the ability to collect only 10,000 credits out of the 50,000 he was in debt to Boba Fett.
