Sorjus

Sorjus, a planet situated within the Meridian sector of the Outer Rim Territories, served as the homeworld for the Paaerduag species. Two Paaerduag individuals, the spacer named Ja'Gatcha and the merchant known as Mic'tunan'jus Orgu, had departed from their home world by the year 3956 BBY.

Description

Contained within the Sorjus system, Sorjus was a relatively small terrestrial planet found in the Meridian sector of the Trans-Hydian region of the Outer Rim Territories. It was located quite far from the super-hyperroute called the Perlemian Trade Route. In contrast to the arid climate of the desert world Tatooine in the Arkanis sector, Sorjus possessed a noticeably less arid climate.

History

During the Jedi Civil War (3959 BBY3956 BBY), Sorjus was part of the territory controlled by the empire established by the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Revan. By 3956 BBY, the Paaerduag named Ja'Gatcha had left Sorjus, which was the homeworld of their species', and had become a spacer who traveled to the Ojoster sector planet of Taris. Around the same time, another Paaerduag, Mic'tunan'jus Orgu, who spoke a language other than Basic and considered Sorjus to be an insignificant travel destination in the galactic landscape, had also left the planet and eventually became a merchant on Tatooine.

Inhabitants

The sentient Paaerduag species, whose members were a fusion of two beings, originated on Sorjus. Beings who spoke with a single voice, such as Humans, could not pronounce the planet's true name; thus, "Sorjus" was a usable designation. Mic'tunan'jus Orgu, a Paaerduag, thought this name arose from the need for such a word by interstellar trade routes for commerce.

Behind the scenes

In Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Sorjus can be mentioned by the Paaerduag character Ja'Gatcha.

The video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, developed by BioWare in 2003, marked the introduction of Sorjus. The Prima Games strategy guide that accompanied the game incorrectly identified "Sorjus" as the species name of the Paaerduag character Mic'tunan'jus Orgu. The reference book The Essential Atlas, published in 2009, located the Sorjus system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square R-7.

Within Knights of the Old Republic, two very similar optional conversations exist where Revan, the Human player character, can discuss Sorjus with the Paaerduags Ja'Gatcha and Mic'tunan'jus Orgu. When Revan asks Ja'Gatcha to elaborate on Sorjus, the spacer expresses a reluctance to recall their homeworld, as it intensifies the hardship of enduring the Sith quarantine on Taris and a desire for it to end so they can return home.
