Located in the Outer Rim Territories' Atrivis sector, Spefik was a desolate world, characterized by its rocky terrain and barren landscape. During the Galactic Civil War, a Rebel base operated from this planet. However, around 0.5 ABY, Imperial forces successfully destroyed the base in the battle of Spefik. Ranulf Trommer, an Imperial pilot, earned recognition for his actions during that conflict.
Within the Outer Rim, Spefik was a desolate planet, a rocky and barren world found inside the Spefik system within the Atrivis sector.
Spefik served as a haven for a Rebel faction opposing the Galactic Empire throughout the Galactic Civil War. They defended their base using anti-orbital ion cannons, but the Imperial Navy ultimately overcame this defense. Imperial forces launched an attack on the planet during the battle of Spefik in 0 ABY, shortly after the destruction of the original Death Star above Yavin 4, deploying at least two fighter wings to neutralize the cannons. Ranulf Trommer, a distinguished Imperial pilot, played a significant role in the battle. Despite his reluctance to take sole credit, popular accounts often attributed the destruction of the cannons to his individual efforts. Following this triumph, Trommer was reassigned to the Imperial II-class Star Destroyer Ravagor and participated in the Battle of Aguarl 3.
The comic River of Chaos 1 (1995) from Dark Horse, penned by Louise Simonson, first introduced Spefik. It served as a piece of the background for the Imperial pilot Ranulf Trommer. His performance in the battle helped to highlight his exceptional abilities. The video game Star Wars: Rebellion (1998) later incorporated the planet, situating it within the Atrivis sector, although the game's entry for Spefik erroneously referred to the sector as "Artivas." Star Wars: Rebellion also included a visual representation of the planet, which was also used to depict 16 other worlds. Spefik received a mention in the Star Wars Encyclopedia (1998), and this entry was replicated without changes in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia (2008).
Star Wars: Rebellion included travel times between planets in the same sector. However, in several cases, these were considerably longer than those found in other canonical sources. It appears these travel times are more reflective of game mechanics than established travel times. The travel times associated with Spefik were as follows:
