Squadrons Over Corellia

Squadrons over Corellia, which came out on December 16, 2008, represents the initial expansion for the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game. This expansion brings over 200 fresh cards to the game, featuring more than 20 new Loot cards (which are essentially special versions of regular cards). Among these is a brand-new Alpha-3 Nimbus-class V-wing starfighter.

This set presents a new item subtype: starships. These range from iconic vessels like X-wings and TIE Fighters to a KSE Firespray and the Z-95 Dire Hound. The gameplay is enhanced by these cards, allowing them to support ground units with substantial firepower, transport units between quest locations, or provide a shield for your avatar against incoming attacks. Furthermore, the set introduces well-known characters like Emperor Palpatine, Han Solo, Thrawn, Wedge Antilles, and Jabba the Hutt into the game.

The Scenarios, or story mode, of this expansion centers on a dogfight taking place within the Corellian system. The Emperor has given direct orders for Imperial Special Forces to establish a Headhunter squadron on Corellia. Their objective is to locate and eliminate a clandestine Rebel base situated on the Corellian moon known as Talus. While long thought to be a simple reconnaissance outpost, the Imperials have discovered that this base serves as a launchpad for Rebel sabotage operations throughout the Corellian system and is sheltering one of the last surviving Jedi Knights, Rachi Sitra. The Rebels' sole recourse is to launch a counteroffensive against the Imperial squadron, hoping to buy enough time to evacuate Rachi and other essential Rebel personnel.

The Heroic encounter mode in this set recreates the Battle of Mos Espa, and is focused on a group of spacers who are trying to defeat the Tusken King, whose Tusken Raiders are on a rampage in Mos Espa after their relics were stolen.
