Stanfeld Duffit

The Human male mayor of Montrol City, which serves as the capital of Gandle Ott, located within the Kathol sector of the Outer Rim Territories, was named Stanfeld Duffit. In the year 8 ABY, after Moff Kentor Sarne, an Imperial warlord, experienced defeat at Kal'Shebbol at the hands of the New Republic, he was compelled to withdraw to Gandle Ott.

Having divested the planet of both its defense force and its appointed governor, the Moff then departed, thereby plunging the planet into a state of disarray. Some days subsequently, the CR90 corvette FarStar of the New Republic arrived and initiated diplomatic engagement with the world. Throughout the four-day duration of this visit, Duffit made multiple gestures of goodwill towards the FarStar delegation, with the expectation that aligning himself with the New Republic would prove advantageous for his city.

Biography

Within the Outer Rim Territories' Kathol sector, on the world of Gandle Ott, lived Stanfeld Duffit, a Human male. By the time 8 ABY rolled around, he was serving as the mayor of Montrol City, the planet's capital, and he owned an estate in the Residential District. Duffit took great pride in his city, considering it quite impressive for such a remote planet, and was also proud of CUTH-BRT-92-X3, the BRT supercomputer that helped automate Montrol City's systems.

In the year 8 ABY, Moff Kentor Sarne, the Imperial warlord who held dominion over the sector, was forced to retreat from his capital on Kal'Shebbol by the forces of the New Republic. Sarne's retreat led him to Gandle Ott, where he first stripped the system of its defense force and then removed the governor before his final departure. This left Gandle Ott in a state of confusion, and from this chaos emerged two rivals vying for control of the planet: Marja Lang, the Vice-Governor left behind by Sarne, and General Herron Dade, the commander of the planetary militia. A few days afterwards, the New Republic CR90 corvette FarStar arrived, pursuing Sarne. Duffit was included in the governmental delegation that greeted the FarStar's command crew at Montrol Spaceport.

During the second day of the FarStar's visit, Duffit gave them a tour of Montrol City, showing them the locations and sights he thought would appeal to representatives of the New Republic, including the former Jedi chapter house, the art museums, industrial sites, courts, and the Computer Center, where he introduced them to CUTH-BRT-92-X3. On the third day, he threw a dinner party at his estate, inviting both the New Republic officials and several hundred business leaders and supporters of General Dade. Duffit hoped to attract new business to Gandle Ott, and he knew that any association with the New Republic would benefit him, regardless of whether Herron Dade or Marja Lang came out on top. After a few days of establishing diplomatic ties and visiting the planet, the FarStar departed Gandle Ott to continue its pursuit of Moff Sarne.

He possessed enough political savvy to understand that aligning himself with the New Republic would be advantageous for both himself and Montrol City, irrespective of whether Herron Dade or Marja Lang ultimately gained control of the planet.
