A Star Courier was a type of spacecraft produced by Republic Sienar Systems. These vessels were intended for affluent diplomats and business leaders who journeyed through perilous regions of space. The Star Courier featured a spherical main compartment for accommodating both the crew and passengers. It also incorporated an innovative, high-temperature ion propulsion system. This system necessitated the use of sizable radiator panels, which were designed to retract inward during landing procedures. The defensive capabilities of the courier included energy cannons along with advanced sensor arrays.
Documents that were unsealed from Imperial Facility 729-D brought to light the existence of the Scimitar. This was a Star Courier that had been extensively upgraded with a range of additional features. These included six energy cannons, espionage and monitoring equipment, interrogation droids, and a stealth system. The Sith Master Darth Maul was the owner of the Scimitar. He also transported his FC-20 repulsorcycle, known as Bloodfin, on board.
