Bloodfin, alternatively known as the Sith Speeder, functioned as the personal repulsorcraft speeder bike for Darth Maul, the Zabrak Sith apprentice. Like all FC-20 speeder bike models, Bloodfin's original manufacturer was Razalon. However, this particular speeder underwent extensive modifications, with the removal of all superfluous systems, enabling Bloodfin to achieve peak velocity for Maul's covert terrestrial missions. During his time as an apprentice to the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, Maul housed Bloodfin within his customized Star Courier, Scimitar, and later employed the speeder bike in the pursuit of Queen Padmé Amidala's convoy during the Naboo Crisis. Upon reaching the Queen's royal starship in the Tatooine desert, Maul dismounted Bloodfin and engaged Qui-Gon Jinn, the Jedi Master, in a duel, just before the Queen and the Jedi managed to escape. This action exposed Maul and the Sith to the Jedi Order, following a millennia of clandestine plotting.

Initially, Bloodfin was a standard FC-20 speeder bike model, produced by Razalon, featuring a crescent shape, a single seat for a pilot, and a length of 1.65 meters. However, the repulsorcraft was significantly altered by its owner, the Zabrak Darth Maul. Maul streamlined the speeder bike's exterior and eliminated its superfluous systems, which included its sensor and weapon arrays, to maximize the Sith Speeder's velocity during operation. Furthermore, Bloodfin's energy systems were reconfigured to channel all available power into enhancing speed. To manage the extreme speeds attained by Bloodfin, the speeder bike was equipped with a "wait-mode" for dismounting, enabling Maul to automatically decelerate the Sith Speeder before it entered standby mode, ready for his subsequent use.
As a Sith Lord, Darth Maul utilized Bloodfin for missions assigned by his Sith Master, Darth Sidious, specifically for covert operations. The Sith Speeder was stored aboard Maul's stealth vessel, the Star Courier Sith Infiltrator Scimitar, until its deployment was required. Although Scimitar possessed a cloaking device, Bloodfin lacked this feature, prompting Maul to deploy DRK-1 Dark Eye probe droids to conduct spy operations on his targets after landing planetside.

Scimitar served as the Zabrak's operational base until Maul's probe droids identified his targets, at which point he would deploy his Sith Speeder to pursue them. Maul's modifications to Bloodfin ensured the speeder bike could achieve its maximum possible speed during these pursuits, negating the need for his starship in such scenarios.
As part of the Sith's scheme to dominate the galaxy, Darth Sidious orchestrated the blockade of Naboo by collaborating with the Trade Federation and its Viceroy, Nute Gunray. Following Gunray's failure to capture Padmé Amidala, the Queen of Naboo, and eliminate the Jedi ambassadors dispatched by the Galactic Republic, Sidious reassigned the mission to Maul. As Sidious' Sith apprentice, Maul followed his Master's directives, eager to avenge the Jedi Order by succeeding in his assigned task. The Jedi, believing the Sith to have been extinct for over a millennium, neither anticipated nor believed in their potential return.
Using the Sith Infiltrator Scimitar, Maul tracked Queen Amidala's Naboo Royal Starship to Tatooine shortly after her successful escape from the Naboo invasion. To pinpoint the Queen and her entourage, which included the Jedi ambassadors Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Maul deployed his starship's DRK-1 Dark Eye probe droids to surveil the inhabitants of Mos Espa, eventually locating his targets. Sometime after the Boonta Eve Classic podrace, during which Jinn liberated Anakin Skywalker, a human boy, from slavery, Maul identified his targets and set a course to intercept the Jedi Master as he returned to the Queen's starship. Utilizing Bloodfin, Maul managed to overtake Jinn and Skywalker just as they arrived at the Naboo Royal Starship in the desert.

Maul leveraged the Sith Speeder's capabilities to decelerate Bloodfin sufficiently for him to dismount, then employed the Force to leap into position and engaged the Jedi Master in a duel. Moments prior, the Sith Speeder nearly collided with the young Skywalker as he ran, but the boy avoided Bloodfin solely due to Jinn's prior warning. Before Maul could defeat the Jedi Master in combat, Kenobi managed to launch the starship, but not before ensuring Jinn's safe boarding. Despite Maul's failure to complete his mission at that juncture, his actions ultimately revealed the Sith's continued existence to the Jedi, a revelation that Jinn conveyed to the Jedi Council, only to be dismissed.
Darth Maul's speeder bike made its debut appearance in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace, the 1999 Star Wars prequel trilogy film. The speeder bike's official designation within Star Wars canon as Sith Speeder was established on the StarWars.com Encyclopedia.
