Naboo Royal Starship

title: Naboo Royal Starship

During the Invasion of Naboo, Queen Padmé Amidala's royal starship was the Naboo Royal Starship, a modified J-type 327 Nubian starship. To escape the Trade Federation's occupation of Naboo, she utilized it, landing on Tatooine for necessary repairs before continuing to Coruscant and, ultimately, back to Naboo.

Typically, Amidala would use the ship for official state visits to other planetary representatives, as well as for royal functions held on Naboo. It was a Naboo custom for the reigning monarch to give the ship a name, but Amidala had more pressing issues because of the Invasion of Naboo.

Design

The Naboo Royal Starship on Tatooine

The distinctive spaceframe showcased a remarkably gorgeous design, demonstrating the concept of fusing art and functionality that permeated Naboo technology, and it perfectly captured the workmanship that was common during the Galactic Republic's peaceful era. The citizens of Naboo regarded the entire ship as a piece of art.

Royal chromium, a material typically reserved for the ships of Naboo's monarch, was used to create the shining finish. Skilled artisans created and hand-polished the mirrored hull, foregoing the use of automatons or factory equipment. The interior was crafted with similar attention to detail and, predictably, was quite roomy. The luxurious royal quarters, a forward hold, a main hold with tech station, and the cockpit, which was reachable via turbolift, were all located inside the ship, from front to back. A military-style bathroom was also included on the ship. The throne room, where the monarch traveled and greeted visitors, was the last room. Overall, the ship clearly showed how much the designers wanted to create a symbol of elegance and beauty.

Specifications

The Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering Corps handcrafted the spaceframe in Theed, designing it around the imported sublight engine and T-14 hyperdrive generator, both made by Nubia Star Drives, Inc.. In essence, the ship was a J-type 327 Nubian starship internally, necessitating the use of J-type 327 Nubian parts. The ship was outfitted with strong shields but lacked any offensive weapons.

History

During her reign, Queen Padmé Amidala possessed the Naboo Royal Starship as her own starship. She made use of the starship during the Invasion of Naboo. Decades later, Emperor Palpatine kept the ship in the Imperial Palace and gave it to Darth Vader for his personal use, knowing that it would remind him of his past. He traveled to Mustafar in the ship and deactivated its deflector shields to ensure the planet's scorching entry left its mark on the hull. The hull was subsequently repaired, though.

The Sith Lord continued to use the Naboo Royal Starship for about twenty years after he first acquired it. Vader lost a significant portion of his influence within the Empire as a result of his failures during the destruction of the Death Star. Vader sought out the renegade archaeologist Doctor Chelli Aphra, who specialized in reviving outdated technology, in an effort to amass his own army. Doctor Aphra agreed to help Vader obtain a droid army and told him about a functioning factory on the planet Geonosis, which was under the control of the Geonosian queen Karina. The pair broke into the queen's lair and learned that she was using the factory, which was connected to her like a womb, to produce Geonosian-droid hybrids. Vader summoned the Naboo Royal Starship to airlift the factory out of the lair and flee the area. Vader attached the factory to Aphra's ship, the Ark Angel, after the mission was over, where Aphra reprogrammed the droids for Vader's use.

Shortly after the Geonosis mission, Vader's personal interrogator droid 0-0-0 interrogated an agent of Palpatine's in order to ascertain his position within the Empire. The guy said his name was Cylo IV and that he had been given the task of creating replacements for Vader. Enraged by this discovery, Vader had 0-0-0 kill the man. Vader then traveled to Cylo's research base with Doctor Aphra using the Naboo Royal Starship. Upon arrival, Vader launched an ion missile from the starship into the base. He then entered the base and unleashed his droid army, which had been resting in the starship. Vader discovered inside the base that Cylo had transferred his consciousness into another body and was now known as Cylo V. Vader was then greeted by the Emperor, who informed Vader that he would only be replaced if he proved to be inferior to his potential replacements. Vader then went back to the starship and left the system.
