Star Wars: Ewoks (toy line)

Kenner's Star Wars: Ewoks toy collection from 1985 was inspired by the animated television show, Ewoks, which was broadcast between 1985 and 1986. Prior to the show's termination, the toy series presented six figures from the cartoon.

Development

Ewoks action figures and unreleased prototypes

The Star Wars: Ewoks toy collection showcased six characters that appeared in the Star Wars: Ewoks animated program. This show aired on ABC for a duration of two seasons, spanning from 1985 to 1986, before it was canceled. The animated series chronicled the adventures of the Ewoks and their conflicts with the antagonistic Duloks located on the Forest Moon of Endor.

The Ewoks product line was launched in two waves during its single series run. The initial wave featured Dulok characters such as King Gorneesh, Urgah Lady Gorneesh, Dulok Scout, and Dulok Shaman. The second wave introduced the Ewok characters Wicket W. Warrick and Logray. A subsequent series was proposed but ultimately never materialized. The prototypes for this abandoned series included the Ewok characters Chirpa, Paploo, and Weechee Warrick, the Jinda character Bondo, and the Tulgah character Morag.

These toys were marketed concurrently with the Droids toy line, which was also based on an animated series, alongside The Power of the Force series, which continued Kenner's toy production based on the films.

Reception

The Ewoks toy line by Kenner achieved higher sales figures than its Star Wars: Droids counterpart. The Ewoks toys garnered greater popularity in Europe compared to their reception in America.

Table of action figures

The following table presents details as found on the packaging cards accompanying each action figure upon its initial release. It's important to note that after an action figure's debut, aspects such as packaging details, the figure's design, and its name were subject to modifications. The composition of this list is based on a holistic view of characteristics (name, shape, and product number), rather than relying on a single defining trait.
