Star Wars: Jedi — The Dark Side

Star Wars: Jedi — The Dark Side, a comic book series in five parts, was penned by Scott Allie. The narrative unfolds in 53 BBY, centering on Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan, Xanatos. The Jedi Council dispatches them to Telos IV, Xanatos's homeworld, with the mission of averting the outbreak of civil war. The initial issue saw its release on May 18 in the year 2011.

This story arc is an adaptation of the history detailed in Jedi Apprentice: The Dark Rival, however, the storyline it presents diverges significantly.

Issues

Behind the scenes

The characters and settings featured in Jedi — The Dark Side draw heavily from those first created by Jude Watson in the Jedi Apprentice series, published by Scholastic. These include Xanatos, Crion, Tahl, Thani, Landor, and others. The comic expands on Watson's original introduction of the Telosian Civil War and Xanatos's descent to the dark side following the supposed "murder" of Crion, his father, by his Jedi Master.

Jedi—The Dark Side's concluding issue suggested more comics detailing Qui-Gon Jinn's life before the Jedi Apprentice series would be made, but these never came to fruition.
