Star Wars: Star Tours

The toy series known as Star Wars: Star Tours was exclusively available at Disney Theme Parks, with releases spanning from 2002 until the present. This line featured characters and vehicles directly related to the Star Tours ride, Disney/Star Wars character mashups, and re-releases of items from existing Star Wars toy lines. These toys were available in various formats such as typical action figures, PVC figures, and smaller miniature figures.

History

The initial wave of figures was launched between 2002 and 2005 across four collections, with their packaging designed to mirror the style of the standard Star Wars toy lines from Hasbro that were in production at the time: Collection I and II (August and September 2002) — Power of the Jedi, Collection III (July 2003) — Star Wars Saga, Collection IV — The Original Trilogy Collection (2005). There were plans at one stage to develop a playset inspired by the Droidnostics Center area of the ride's queue, but it was ultimately never produced.

A fresh collection of merchandise, including new toys, was introduced to coincide with the debut of the updated attraction, Star Tours: The Adventures Continue. This new version opened in May (Disney's Hollywood Studios) and June (Disneyland) of 2011.

Continuity

This toy line was the first to give official names to many of the droid characters featured in the original Star Tours ride. Kaink and Teek, characters originating from the 1984 and 1985 Ewoks TV movies, made their debut as action figures in a May 2010 set, based on their appearances in the safety video shown during the ride.
