Star Wars: The Bad Batch (soundtrack)

Star Wars: The Bad Batch had its musical score composed by a team including Kevin Kiner, Sean Kiner, Deana Kiner, Peter Lam, Nolan Markey, and David Glen Russell. Mark Evans took on the roles of studio personnel and mixer. Kevin Kiner produced the soundtrack for Star Wars: The Bad Batch, which initially became available on May 14, 2021, starting with the track titled "Enter the Bad Batch."

The soundtrack's Volume 1, encompassing episodes one through eight, was launched on June 25, 2021. Subsequently, Volume 2, covering episodes nine through sixteen, was released on August 20 of the same year.

The musical score incorporates the "Bad Batch Theme" originating from Star Wars: The Clone Wars - The Final Season (Episodes 1-4), and it also introduces "Omega's Theme." These two themes are featured during the end credits of The Bad Batch episodes; the former represents Clone Force 99, while the latter is associated with the character Omega, who was introduced in the series' premiere episode, "Aftermath."

Furthermore, the soundtrack incorporates musical themes from other Star Wars properties. Examples include "The Imperial March," which is subtly present in the track "Civil War About to Begin" and prominently featured in "End of the War," a track that also integrates "The Force Theme" and "The Emperor's Theme." The mystery motif appears in "Battle Simulation," and dies irae is used in "Caleb at the Cliff" and "Danger at the Market." An incidental motif originating from A New Hope is heard in "End of the War."

Development

According to Kiner, the score for The Bad Batch is a direct evolution from the music of Star Wars: The Clone Wars because the new series serves as a more direct sequel to it than Star Wars Rebels did. Kevin Kiner collaborated with his children, Sean and Deana, to co-write "Omega's Theme." For the track "Zygerrian Camp," Kevin Kiner played the solo guitar viola, and he also oversaw the production of Volume I of the soundtrack, which contained 37 tracks and a total of 118 minutes of music.
