Star Wars 67: The Darker represents the sixty-seventh installment within the Marvel Star Wars comic book collection.
While the leaders of the Rebel Alliance strategize a mission focused on the retrieval of the captured Han Solo, C-3PO, Chewbacca, Plif, alongside numerous Hoojibs, embark on an expedition into the uncharted tunnel systems located near the covert Rebel outpost situated on Arbra. Their objective is to locate R2-D2, who had previously departed to investigate a faint distress signal, which ultimately proved to be a deception designed to attract the droid towards the dwelling of the Darker. The Darker, a being composed of the dark energies from the ancient Arbrans civilization, found itself confined within an abandoned subterranean metropolis by a substantial force field generated by the Arbrans. Upon Threepio and Chewbacca's entry into the city, they observe Artoo in captivity, seized by the dark entity with the intention of utilizing the droid's internal components to engineer a device capable of deactivating the force field that holds him prisoner. Chewbacca attempts to intervene, but the Darker employs its power to manipulate emotions, turning the Wookiee against the protocol droid. Eventually, Threepio succeeds in liberating Chewbacca from the Darker's control and freeing R2-D2 from his restraints. He then directs Chewbacca to seize and hurl the Darker into the force field, recognizing that this action would lead to the creature's demise. The Darker is not only destroyed upon impact with the screen, but the cave structure enveloping the city begins to disintegrate. The group flees the city through an adjoining tunnel before its complete obliteration into debris.
