Similar to his work on Star Wars #41, artist John Tyler Christopher created a pair of negative wash covers for Star Wars #45 after being presented with what he characterized as a remarkable opportunity that necessitated immediate action. One of the covers highlights Boba Fett, a renowned bounty hunter. The initial glimpse of Fett's cover was a green-tinted image that formed the cover's backdrop. Prior to the exclusive presale on his website, Tyler unveiled the Fett cover with artwork that was still pending approval, a detail he felt compelled to mention in his Tweet. Ultimately, it gained approval without any required modifications.
According to Tyler, the preorders had to be made to give him the opportunity to feature both characters on the covers. The presale for these covers commenced on February 8 and concluded on February 10. During this sale, both covers were offered as a RAW bundle. Tyler assured fans that they would have the option to purchase each cover separately or as "grades" during the public sale, at which point he guaranteed that his store would have the physical issues in stock. He also shared an alternatively colored "sunset" version of his Fett cover on Twitter, creating a "stupid pun" about the presale's conclusion. Tyler kept the subject of his second negative wash cover under wraps, only hinting at it being Fett's secret cargo within the context of the online presale. Eventually, the cover was revealed to depict Han Solo frozen in carbonite.
