The 172nd installment of Star Wars Insider magazine, also known as Star Wars Insider 172, represents the eightieth issue published under the Titan Magazines banner. It hit shelves on April 11, 2017. To commemorate the approaching 40th Anniversary of Star Wars, the preview cover intentionally mirrored the original theatrical poster for A New Hope. Included in its content were a guide showcasing the various collectibles released during April and behind-the-scenes insights into Rogue One.
Issue 172 of Insider brought about a redesign for the publication. The cover now displayed the fresh tagline "The Official Magazine" beneath the Star Wars Insider title, replacing the former "The Official Magazine of the Star Wars Saga." Furthermore, the spine's color shifted from black to white, accompanied by differently colored tabs to distinguish each issue's specific edition.
