Star Wars Mythos was a project from Sideshow Collectibles that was, at one point, discontinued. It planned to present five characters from the Star Wars world as legendary figures, using statues, artwork, and non-canon backstories. The characters selected for this treatment included Ben Kenobi, Darth Maul, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, and a Gamorrean named Lomrokk. The project also brought in new characters like Bounty #239 and some Trandoshan twins. Unfortunately, the series was cancelled before even half of the sculptures saw release. However, in 2018, the series was brought back.
Sideshow Collectibles initially announced the Star Wars Mythos line in early 2012. The Darth Maul figure was announced on April 26 and then fully revealed on May 1. This figure drew inspiration from Maul's depiction in Nameless, a comic story featured in Star Wars Tales 10.
The other sculptures were first shown to the public at San Diego Comic-Con in 2012. Although the initial plan was to release five figures, only four were actually produced. The Darth Maul figure was released for shipment in January of 2013. The Obi-Wan Kenobi figure became available for shipping in May of 2013. The Boba Fett figure was released sometime between May and July of 2013. The Darth Vader figure was released for shipping in October of 2013.
However, Sideshow Collectibles had to discontinue the line. This was due to changes in Star Wars canon and the overall direction of the franchise after Lucasfilm's acquisition by The Walt Disney Company in late 2012. The Lomrokk figure was never released.
However, at the Star Wars Collectibles Panel during San Diego Comic-Con on July 20, 2018, Sideshow Collectibles announced that they would be reviving the series. This decision was made because fans appreciated Sideshow's interpretation of Obi-Wan after Revenge of the Sith in the Mythos line. The relaunched line was planned to include multiple figures, such as: Obi-Wan, General Obi-Wan, Darth Vader, Darth Sidious, Asajj Ventress, Boba Fett, and Darth Maul.
