Darth Sidious asks his apprentice, Darth Maul, to recount the origins of his unique double-bladed lightsaber.
Sidious had instructed Maul to travel to the Jentares system with the mission of assassinating the Jedi master Siolo Ur Manka. However, Manka effortlessly repelled Maul's initial ambush, employing only a simple wooden staff.
After retreating, Maul reorganized himself and created his innovative weapon. During their subsequent confrontation, Maul caught Manka off guard, impaling him from behind with the second blade.
Sidious urges Maul to give a name to the weapon. Maul, however, declines, wishing for it to remain solely a tool for killing—and therefore, nameless.
