Storm Squadron was a highly skilled squadron of starfighter pilots operating as part of the Imperial Starfighter Corps under the rule of the Galactic Empire. During the Imperial Era, a distinguished ace pilot belonging to Storm Squadron once piloted a TIE Advanced x1 in close proximity to a city. Even though the TIE Advanced x1's production was brief and restricted in quantity, a sufficient number were manufactured and distributed to make them a preferred choice among top-tier Imperial units, including Storm Squadron.
The first appearance of Storm Squadron within current Star Wars canon occurred in the Galactic Empire Conversion Kit for Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: X-Wing Second Edition tabletop miniatures game, specifically on the "Storm Squadron Ace" card. This kit saw its release on September 13, 2018. Storm Squadron's initial debut was in Star Wars Legends within Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed, which launched on October 27, 2004.
