Sy Myrthian Insurrection

The Sy Myrthian Insurrection took place in 19 BBY. It happened during the Galactic Empire's Reconquest of the Rim. The Empire was trying to eliminate the holdout forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. These forces were under the command of Sy Myrthian ex-Senator Toonbuck Toora. The area in question was around the planet Sy Myrth. The Galactic Republic, which the Empire succeeded, had defeated the Confederacy earlier that year at the conclusion of the Clone Wars. During this campaign, the Imperial Twelfth Army, led by Admiral Adar Tallon and General Jan Dodonna, achieved victories at Diado and Metalorn. They also besieged Sy Myrth itself. Ultimately, they defeated Toora's Separatist holdout forces in the Trasemene system. Toora herself was killed in this battle, which brought an end to the insurrection.

Prelude

The Clone Wars, a galactic conflict, reached its conclusion in 19 BBY when the Galactic Republic vanquished the Confederacy of Independent Systems. However, some members of the Confederacy chose to continue fighting as Separatist holdouts as the Imperial Period began. Among them was Toonbuck Toora, a former Senator from Sy Myrth and one of the Confederacy's founders.

Toora successfully reactivated Separatist ground and naval forces. Furthermore, she restarted production in Confederate factory worlds located near her homeworld of Sy Myrth. This area, situated around the Perlemian Trade Route, was known as the "Foundry of the Confederacy." Uprisings like Toora's compelled the Galactic Empire, the Republic's successor, to launch a major campaign called the Reconquest of the Rim. The Imperials redeployed the Twelfth Army to the world of Charros IV as a response to Toora's uprising.

The insurrection

After months of combat during 19 BBY, the 12th Sector Army, under the joint command of Admiral Adar Tallon and General Jan Dodonna, achieved a victorious outcome at Diado. This was the result of gradually weakening Toora's forces through an attritional strategy. Subsequently, they secured another victory at Metalorn.

Following these successes, the Imperials, guided by Dodonna's expertise, besieged Sy Myrth itself, ultimately defeating the forces stationed there. Tallon and Dodonna then pursued Toora's flagship, the Defiance's Banner, using a task force spearheaded by the Praetor-class Star Battlecruiser Battalion. The campaign concluded came in the Trasemene system, where the Imperial task force trapped Toora's fleet. In the ensuing battle, the Battalion decimated Toora's fleet with its turbolaser batteries, killing Toora and effectively ending the insurrection.

Aftermath

Although the Sy Myrthian Insurrection was over, some Confederate loyalists persisted in harassing the Empire from the Kreetan Narrows region within [Hutt Space](/article/hutt_space-legends], near Sy Myrth. Due to the activities in the Kreetan Narrows, the Empire later annexed the northern territories of the Hutts, encompassing the Narrows and the worlds of Vaathkree, Kessel, and Honoghr.

Dodonna was later honored for his contribution to the pursuit and elimination of Toora. The exploits of both he and Tallon were celebrated on the Core Worlds of the galaxy. However, both men eventually became disillusioned with the Empire due to its increasingly brutal and oppressive behavior. Following the Declaration of Rebellion in 2 BBY, Dodonna and Tallon defected to the newly established Alliance to Restore the Republic.
