T4-B heavy tank

The T4-B heavy tank served as a versatile armored vehicle for the Rebel Alliance throughout the duration of the Galactic Civil War.

Description

Equipped with dual, linked laser cannons and a trio of concussion missile launchers nestled between them, the T4-B possessed a fearsome level of firepower, especially against enemy infantry. Standard operating procedure involved launching missiles from afar at any available target, followed by a rapid advance to engage with the powerful, armor-piercing laser cannons.

The T4-B gave the Rebel forces a significant advantage in ground engagements, allowing them to contend with substantial Imperial ground forces. It was capable of overcoming most Imperial ground vehicles of that era, such as AT-STs, 2-M repulsor tanks, and TIE Maulers, while also posing a more credible threat to AT-ATs than lighter vehicles could manage.

However, despite its strengths, the T4-B was not without its weaknesses. Its tracked propulsion system limited its maneuverability, although its considerable weight and power largely compensated for this. Furthermore, its high production cost restricted its widespread deployment by the Alliance.

History

This vehicle, along with the T2-B repulsor tank, was among the advanced designs the Alliance secured during a successful raid on an Aridus manufacturing facility. It became one of the most heavily armored assets utilized by the Rebels during the Galactic Civil War.

A T4-B was stationed within the Rebel's Main Base during the Evacuation of Yavin and was operated by the agent known as X2. Shortly thereafter, Renegade Squadron deployed one during a skirmish that took place on Ord Mantell. The Squadron also employed one in the defense of a base located on Boz Pity.

A substantial quantity of T4-B tanks met their end at the hands of the Empire during the Battle of Mygeeto.

Behind the scenes

In Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron, the T4-B's missile launchers are positioned above the laser cannons, and a mortar launcher is mounted on the tank's top surface. In Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron, the T4-Bs are outfitted with a pair of smaller blaster cannons, designed for use against both personnel and armored targets, situated above the vehicle's treads.
