Tahiri Veila's grandfather

A Human male Jedi, with green eyes and blond hair, existed from the final years of the Galactic Republic through the beginning of the Galactic Empire's rule. This lean Jedi was the father of an individual who would later become the parent of Tahiri Veila, a Knight in the New Jedi Order. Veila eventually had a vision of her grandfather, which implied that he died during the Great Jedi Purge around the time of the Galactic Empire's formation.

Biography

Tahiri Veila, granddaughter of the Jedi

During the closing years of the Galactic Republic, a male Human Jedi lived. Sometime before or after the Republic's fall in 19 BBY, he became a father. This Jedi's descendant eventually had a daughter named Tahiri Veila, who was born on the planet Tatooine in the Outer Rim in 13 ABY. Both of Veila's parents, Tryst and Cassa, possessed Force-sensitive abilities, which they passed on to their daughter. They never had the opportunity to tell her about their family's connection to the Jedi Order, as they both died when she was very young.

Veila, unknowingly following in her grandfather's path, joined Luke Skywalker's New Jedi Order after her potential for Jedi training was recognized. In 22 ABY, she discovered her Jedi heritage through a Force vision of her grandfather in the Dark Side Cave on Dagobah. The vision showed him being pursued by stormtroopers across a green [grass](/article/grass-legends] landscape and shot at with blaster rifles, suggesting he was killed during Emperor Palpatine's Great Jedi Purge when the Galactic Empire was formed.

Personality and traits

As a member of the Jedi Order, this Human could use the Force and served as a protector of peace and justice within the Republic. He carried a [lightsaber](/article/lightsaber-legends], the standard weapon of the Jedi, on his belt. He had a slim physique, blond hair that reached his shoulders, and green eyes that his granddaughter Tahiri Veila perceived as "smiling" in her vision.

Behind the scenes

Rebecca Moesta created the Jedi for the 1997 young adult novel Junior Jedi Knights: Anakin's Quest. He briefly appeared in a vision to Tahiri Veila in the novel.
