Talon functioned as a CR90 corvette within the Imperial Navy throughout the duration of the Galactic Civil War.
Talon was a CR90 corvette utilized by the Imperial Navy. In the vicinity of 0 BBY, the Galactic Empire implemented measures to diminish the perceived importance of the Talon. The Executor Darth Vader himself was known to be in transit, leading Alliance Intelligence to suspect his presence onboard. The Talon was en route to Celanon City with a reduced crew and minimal protection, with a planned brief stop near Turkana. At that specific time, the Talon was transporting a group of stormtroopers along with the highly classified Imperial document titled Technical Specifications: Spacecraft of the Imperium and the Rebel Alliance, which detailed the specifications of both Imperial and Rebel spacecraft.

The Rebel Alliance assembled a combat team to engage the vessel. The assault was spearheaded by the Nebulon-B frigate named Liberator, receiving assistance from X-wings originating from Red and Blue Squadrons, as well as Y-wings from Gold Squadron. Captain Charger and Cadet Keyan Farlander participated in the attack, with Farlander undertaking his inaugural mission as a wingman to Lieutenant Hamo Blastwell within Red Squadron.

During the attack on the Talon, its defending TIE Fighters were confronted by Blue Squadron, while the Y-wings' ion cannons successfully disabled the Talon. Subsequently, the Rebel's Storm Unit boarded the ship. Once aboard, they required an additional R2 unit, leading Storm Unit to inquire whether any pilots had a spare. The stormtrooper contingent on the Talon engaged in combat with Storm Unit, as Farlander and his R2 unit progressed towards the bridge. Upon reaching the bridge, he deactivated the remaining turbolaser batteries and initiated the download of data from the ship's computer. The Talon's commanding officer attempted to destroy data storage devices, but was killed and Farlander seized the disks.
Before the arrival of more Imperial reinforcements, the Rebel forces withdrew from the Talon. Although Vader was not present on board, the documents obtained by Farlander proved to contain crucial information. These documents furnished the Rebels with insights into the strengths and weaknesses of the Empire. Later, the Rebels adapted a simplified version of the mission for use in a holosimulator, providing training for aspiring pilots.
The Talon is featured in the video game Star Wars: X-Wing.
