Tarrak was a Deep Space Manufacturing Facility which belonged to Ali Tarrak, a Crime Lord affiliated with Nami.
Following Ali Tarrak's theft of a prototype TIE Defender, specifically Proto 11, the manufacturing facility was modified and retrofitted for its production. This was arranged with the help of Zaarin, a rogue Grand Admiral, who ensured the Chief scientist of the project was delivered to her.
Once the facility was operational, she arranged a demonstration of the TIE Defenders' capabilities to the Rebel Alliance within the Yrrna system.
Subsequently, Admiral Thrawn was tasked with suppressing this proliferation attempt. To achieve this, he developed a new starfighter, known as the Missile Boat, as his ultimate weapon. Following its initial mission, the Missile Boat, piloted by Tan Maarek Stele, participated in Thrawn's assault on the Tarrak facility. Despite the presence of T-wings, Y-wings, TIE Defenders, and a minefield, the facility's defenses were overcome. As the shields began to fail, Tarrak fled the factory aboard a YT-1300 transport named Dhoora, accompanied by the scientist. However, they were captured and transported to Coruscant. The facility was then destroyed, effectively ending the threat of TIE Defender proliferation and restoring Imperial control.
