Tarshan Ring Excavations (TRE), a corporation, engaged the Kaminoan cloning experts of Kamino, a planet, to fabricate Human clones for mining operations, occurring no later than 27 BBY. The Kaminoans' attempts to create sterile clones for this purpose met with failure.
TRE, which stands for Tarshan Ring Excavations, was a mining enterprise taking its name from the Tarshan system, situated within the Maerdocian sector of the Mid Rim.

By 27 BBY at the latest, Tarshan Ring Excavations tasked the cloners of the planet Kamino, located in extra-galactic space, with the production of Human miners. Similar to the Lords of Purala IV, another client of the cloners, Tarshan Ring Excavations initially requested that the Kaminoans experiment with sterile clone models.
In both instances, these early clone versions displayed deficiencies in mental well-being, group coordination, adaptability, innovative thinking, and aggressive behavior during simulated combat scenarios. Subsequent corrective actions implemented by the cloners proved insufficient to significantly enhance the clones' overall effectiveness. Shortly thereafter, in 27 BBY, geneticist Hali Ke referenced the TRE experiment in an internal memo as a contributing factor in the decision to engineer the clones intended for the Grand Army of the Galactic Republic with the capacity to reproduce.
The reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare (2012), authored by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart, was originally slated to include Tarshan Ring Excavations. However, the section containing this information was removed prior to publication. This information about the company was later revealed in 2014 as part of Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare Author's Cut, a series of articles on the StarWars.com Blog by Fry and Del Rey editor Erich Schoeneweiss, showcasing content that had been cut from the book.
