The Temple of Imperfect Repose, located in Vaklin, was a modest structure erected by the inhabitants of the area. Its purpose was to provide a space for showing reverence to members of the Jedi Order and presenting them with tributes.
This Jedi temple, situated near the Howling Ruins at the base of towering cliffs, was constructed sometime before 319 BBY. It eventually became the home of two tuk'ata Nobilis, who acted as guardians of the facility. The people of Vaklin would enter the temple, bearing gifts and offerings, which they would place at the base of statues or memorials to honor the Jedi who had defended the galaxy from evil.
In 19 BBY, the Galactic Empire nearly destroyed the Jedi Order, hunting its members to near extinction. With support for the Jedi deemed illegal, the Empire dispatched Darth Vader to suppress the local insurrection led by the Jedi Cho'na Bene. Bene utilized the Temple as a sanctuary while the Empire destroyed prominent Jedi monuments across the planet. Upon discovering the temple, Vader commanded an orbital bombardment, obliterating the structure and killing the Nobilis creatures within, as well as the Temple's steward. Bene engaged Vader in a brief duel before succumbing to the effects of a lethal dose of azetal gas. Vader allowed the Jedi to flee the temple ruins, only to have him shot and killed in the city square after the citizens, who had once loved him, refused to offer aid.
The Jedi temple, a stocky building colored grey and red, was positioned at the far end of an enclosed valley, concealing the entrance to a network of caves and tunnels. Entry to the building was gained through a main portal located at the end of a promenade adorned with stone statues commemorating Jedi heroes. Inside, the temple was dimly lit, with dark stonework displaying shades of green reflecting the faint light. Tables and altars were arranged throughout the hallways, providing spaces for citizens to leave their offerings to their Jedi protectors. Two tuk'ata Nobilis patrolled the halls, guarding against intruders. The Temple's steward resided within the building, educating visitors about the Jedi and encouraging citizens to place their offerings at the feet of statues and memorials.
