Ewok legends tell of a time when those on Endor endured hardship, existing in an unbalanced darkness. During this era, Ewok elders prophesied the arrival of a light that would dispel the gloom. Consequently, they urged the Ewoks to embrace tolerance and kindness, fostering unity among the tribes. Their good deeds were ultimately rewarded when a radiant being came to Endor, so bright that he illuminated the entire moon. The Ewoks called this being the Golden One, due to the intensity of his radiance which made it impossible to look directly at him. Following the Golden One's arrival, trees flourished on Endor, and the Ewoks abandoned their caves to establish settlements in the newly formed forest.
Their civilization prospered, developing both art and intellectual exchange. However, the Golden One understood the necessity of balance, and that darkness would seek to reclaim its power in areas beyond his reach. To maintain equilibrium and prevent the ensuing conflict, the Golden One made an agreement to share the moon with the darkness, ensuring that the Ewoks would experience both light and darkness equally. He then ascended into the sky, resulting in a continuous cycle of day and night on the moon.
For countless years, the Ewoks thrived under this balance. However, the threat of darkness resurfaced with the arrival of strangers on the moon. These newcomers felled sacred trees and initiated the construction of a massive structure above the moon. In response to the Ewoks' desperate pleas for assistance, the Golden One returned to the moon. Strengthened by the presence of the Golden One and his companions, the Ewoks confronted the agents of darkness, and balance was restored once more.
