The High Republic: Light of the Jedi is a complete, spoken-word rendition of the canon novel bearing the same title, penned by Charles Soule. Marc Thompson lends his voice as the narrator, with Random House Audio making it available to the public on January 5, 2021.
In a time long past, preceding the First Order, the Empire, and even The Phantom Menace, the Jedi served as guiding lights for the entire galaxy during the era of The High Republic.
This was a period of prosperity. Fearless hyperspace explorers expanded the Republic's influence to the most distant stars, planets thrived under the just rule of the Senate, and a lasting peace was maintained by the wisdom and power of the esteemed Jedi Order, a group of Force wielders. The galaxy's free citizens, with the Jedi at the zenith of their abilities, felt confident in their capacity to endure any hardship [sic] However, even the [sic] brightest light can create shadows, and some calamities are beyond preparation.
When a devastating event in hyperspace causes a ship's disintegration, the resulting debris field endangers an entire star system. As soon as the distress signal is received, the Jedi swiftly respond. The sheer magnitude of the situation, however, tests the limits of even the most skilled Jedi. As the heavens rupture and destruction descends upon the peaceful alliance they helped establish, the Jedi must rely on the Force to navigate a day where a single error could result in the loss of billions of lives.
While the Jedi valiantly confront the disaster, a truly menacing force emerges beyond the Republic's borders. The hyperspace catastrophe is far more insidious than the Jedi could possibly imagine. A hidden threat lurks in the shadows, far removed from the era's enlightenment, concealing a secret capable of instilling fear in the heart of even the most courageous Jedi.
