The High Republic: Path of Vengeance, penned by Cavan Scott, is a young-adult novel belonging to the Star Wars: The High Republic series. Disney–Lucasfilm Press released it on May 2, 2023 as a component of Phase II within the broader multimedia initiative. Notably, copies were available for purchase in advance at Celebration Europe, from April 7 to 10, 2023.
As a captivating sequel to Path of Deceit, this story explores the bond of cousins Marda and Yana Ro, connected by family but divided by their beliefs.
Marda and Yana are members of the Path of the Open Hand, a group that follows the Mother, a captivating leader who preaches against the use of the Force. Marda embarks on a dangerous mission to Planet X, seeking mysterious creatures to use against the Jedi. Meanwhile, Yana unexpectedly teams up with her deceased lover's father, aiming to take control of the Path from the Mother. These two young women will reach a critical point, where they must decide their own destinies and the fate of the galaxy.
- In the prologue, specifically on page 4, Yana mentions that the Mother betrayed four members of the Children of the Open Hand during their previous, ill-fated mission. However, in The High Republic: Path of Deceit, only three Children of the Path participated in that mission: Yana, Kor, and Treze. Chapter 3, found on page 39, clarifies that Yana is the sole survivor from the original Children. The character Cincey, who was a member at the beginning of Path of Deceit, is finally referenced in Chapter 61 on page 511, and it is suggested that they have died, despite not being involved in the Children's final mission in the prior book.
- Chapter 27, on page 282, asserts that, according to Ric Farazi's contact and Ric Farazi herself, the Path left Dalna approximately "a week or so" before the Jedha Battle. Nevertheless, other instances in the book suggest a significantly longer period between the Path's departure from Dalna and the battle. Indeed, Azlin Rell recalls that two months have elapsed since the events of Path of Deceit on page 387 in chapter 40.
