The Redoubt, situated within the Wild Space region and designated as grid square H-7 on the Standard Galactic Grid, was an astronomical entity.
Within the current Star Wars canon, the Redoubt was initially alluded to in Mark Newbold's "Where in the Galaxy Are the Worlds of Star Wars: The Force Awakens?" article published on StarWars.com on January 29, 2016. The full designation was subsequently revealed on the galactic map featured in the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game, a Star Wars Roleplaying boxed set by Fantasy Flight Games released in August 2016. In Star Wars Legends continuity, the star cluster called the Redoubt made its debut in the 2004 novel Survivor's Quest, penned by Timothy Zahn. Its first visual depiction was created by Tommy Lee Edwards in the 2005 reference work, The New Essential Chronology.
