Plot summary

Han Solo, along with Chewbacca, find themselves transporting a cargo of Rathtars aboard their vessel, the Eravana. After the Rathtars escape their confinement, Solo instructs Chewbacca to return them to their cage. Chewbacca objects, pointing out that the Rathtars are illegal goods, but Han emphasizes their need for the payment. Suddenly, a Rathtar is ejected into the vacuum of space, prompting Han to lament the loss of 100,000 credits. Chewie succeeds in herding the Rathtars back into their enclosure, but another one breaks through the ceiling and enters the command bridge. Chewie and the Rathtar struggle with the ship's controls, causing an unplanned jump into hyperspace.

Upon exiting hyperspace in the Tapani sector, the Eravana narrowly avoids colliding with a solitary First Order Special Forces TIE fighter, callsign Epsilon Nine. The TIE fighter pilot gives chase to Han and Chewbacca's ship for trespassing in a restricted zone. While Han maneuvers the Eravana in an attempt to evade the TIE fighter, Chewbacca grapples with the Rathtar. During the chase, the Rathtar forces Chewie to operate the ship's turret cannon as they struggle and try to shoot down the pursuing TIE fighter, but they fail. Unfortunately, the TIE pilot manages to request backup, and several more TIE fighters are launched from nearby Resurgent-class Star Destroyers.

Han advises Chewie to brace himself before leading the TIE fighters on a high-speed pursuit. He successfully lands the Eravana on a sizable asteroid. Two TIE fighter pilots disembark from their starfighters and order Han to prepare for boarding. Meanwhile, Chewie manages to pacify the Rathtars, who then fall asleep. Han stalls the TIE pilots with conversation, buying enough time to power up the Eravana's engines. The resulting blast from the freighter's engines obliterates the parked TIE fighter, leaving the pilots stranded. Having evaded the First Order, Han inquires about Chewie's experience with the Rathtars. However, as soon as Han enters the cage, the Rathtars awaken, forcing both of them to retreat from the cell. In the end, Chewie insists that Han apologize for disturbing their sleep.
