The initial episode of the LEGO Star Wars: The Resistance Rises series was titled Poe to the Rescue. It chronicles the infiltration and subsequent rescue of Admiral Ackbar from the clutches of the First Order by Commander Poe Dameron, accompanied by C-3PO and BB-8.
Admiral Ackbar, a prominent figure in the Resistance, finds himself imprisoned aboard a First Order Resurgent-class Star Destroyer. Captain Phasma, along with a fellow officer, enters Ackbar's holding cell to extract information regarding the Resistance base's location. Despite his captivity, the Admiral remains defiant, even throwing a watering can at the officer. Undeterred, Phasma cautions Ackbar about the impending arrival of Kylo Ren for interrogation, noting that he is not as "warm and cuddly as her."
In a parallel scene, C-3PO, now sporting a red arm after an incident on an acidic planet, is collected by the skilled Resistance pilot Poe Dameron using a captured First Order Atmospheric Assault Lander. C-3PO relays the critical information that Admiral Ackbar is being held captive on a Star Destroyer within the Bakura sector. BB-8, Poe's loyal droid companion, joins them on their mission, leading to humorous arguments with Threepio during their journey. To execute the rescue, Poe cleverly disguises their lander to resemble a First Order vessel. When C-3PO waves and mentions his red arm, Poe inquires about it. However, the droid is too embarrassed to discuss the incident.
Soon after, Poe's disguised ship emerges from hyperspace and successfully docks within the Star Destroyer's hangar bay. The same First Order officer approaches the shuttle, mistaking it for Kylo Ren's arrival. However, Poe and the droids swiftly incapacitate him with the ship's door and efficiently subdue his squad of stormtroopers. Navigating through the ship's corridors, Poe cleverly uses a stolen stormtrooper helmet as a bowling ball, knocking down another group of stormtroopers. Poe locates Ackbar's cell and informs the Admiral of his rescue mission.
However, C-3PO and BB-8 inadvertently release a diverse array of Aliens and other creatures from their cells, including Jawas and a fearsome Wampa. Ultimately, Poe employs his blaster to blast open Ackbar's cell door. The newly liberated alien prisoners overwhelm Captain Phasma and two of her stormtroopers. Phasma commands her troops to prevent the rebels from escaping, but they, along with the aliens, successfully return to the atmospheric lander. In response, Phasma dispatches several TIE/fo space superiority fighters and TIE/sf space superiority fighters to pursue them.
Poe's ship narrowly avoids a collision with Kylo Ren's command shuttle, forcing Kylo to take evasive maneuvers to prevent crashing into the pursuing TIEs. Upon landing in the Star Destroyer's hangar bay, Kylo is greeted by the same First Order officer, whom he angrily throws aside using The Force. Kylo then berates Phasma for her failure, marking the first time she has disappointed him. Meanwhile, the TIEs continue their pursuit of Poe's ship. C-3PO expresses his distress over the stressful chase, while Ackbar fears their chances of survival. However, Poe reassures them to hold on as he guides them into a treacherous asteroid field.
Poe strategically conceals the stolen atmospheric lander behind a massive asteroid. Two First Order TIE Fighter Pilots piloting their TIE/sf fighter spot the ship and destroy it. However, it is revealed to be a decoy, and Poe retaliates by destroying their fighter using his T-70 X-wing starfighter. Meanwhile, Ackbar and C-3PO have boarded an old Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor, resembling the Azure Angel. Observing the unfolding battle, C-3PO commends Poe for his resourcefulness. However, they are soon pursued by the remaining TIE fighters. Ackbar's ship sustains damage from enemy fire, causing C-3PO to fall off along with a section of the ship. BB-8 comes to his rescue and reattaches him to Ackbar's ship. Poe then maneuvers behind the two TIEs and destroys them.
Having successfully completed their mission, the rebels return to the Resistance base. Ackbar inquires about Threepio's new red arm, but the protocol droid is too ashamed to discuss it, prompting Poe to question why he continues to draw attention to it.
