During the initial years of the Galactic Empire's rule, Theed Engineering functioned as a constructor and supplier of starships. This enterprise, taking its name from Naboo's capital city of Theed, was among the various entities that assisted in preparing the personal starship of Imperial Governor Wilhuff Tarkin, a vessel that he called the Carrion Spike. After a rebel group absconded with the ship, Artoz, a Mon Calamari within the rebel faction, identified Theed Engineering's contribution to the ship's construction, alongside the contributions of Sienar Fleet Systems and Cygnus Spaceworks.
The initial reference to Theed Engineering occurs within the pages of Tarkin, a novel authored by James Luceno and published in 2014.
