The Thradians originated from the planet Thrad and were a species of sentients who possessed a humanoid form. Distinguishing features included their yellow skin, completely black eyes, and segmented protrusions extending from the top of their heads. A notable example of a Thradian was Nadea Tural, a female who served as a Senator.

The initial depiction of the Thradian species occurred in the comic story "Senate Perspective." This story, penned by Martin Fisher and visually brought to life by Ingo Römling, was featured in the ninth issue of the publication Star Wars Rebels Magazine. Römling's design for the species drew influence from concept art created by Ralph McQuarrie for Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi.
