Threkin Horm

Originating from the world of Alderaan, Threkin Horm was a Human male within the Legends continuity. Prior to the destruction of his homeworld, his family had ownership of a spaceline that provided services to Alderaan. In his later years, Horm's significant weight often necessitated his use of a repulsorlift chair for mobility.

Biography

During the year 8 ABY, Horm held the position of President for the Alderaanian Council. Following the First Battle of New Alderaan, the Council grappled with the challenge of resettling refugees from New Alderaan, individuals who were themselves previously refugees from Alderaan. When Prince Isolder proposed marriage to fellow Alderaanian Leia Organa, Horm was of the opinion that her acceptance could resolve the refugee crisis. As the Queen Mother of the Hapes Consortium, Leia possessed the ability to locate a suitable planet within the star cluster for the refugees to inhabit.

Horm's pressure on Leia to accept Isolder's proposal resulted in the lasting animosity of Han Solo, who was also pursuing her affections. Consequently, Horm orchestrated Solo's assignment to a Star Destroyer headed for the Roche system, aiming to distance him from Coruscant in the hope that Leia would forget him. However, Solo responded by abducting the Princess. This action eventually led to the indirect discovery that Horm's mother was the illegitimate daughter of Dalla Suul, a well-known pirate. If Han Solo was indeed Suul's grandson, this would make him and Horm distant relatives.

Later, Horm made an attempt to sell Killik Twilight illegally at an auction held on Tatooine, and it was highly probable that he had obtained the moss-painting through illicit means. Han and Leia, who had traveled to the planet with the intention of purchasing the artwork, discovered that he was the one conducting the auction, with members of the Imperials among the potential buyers. Han and Leia used blackmail to prevent Horm from selling the moss-painting, but this decision triggered a chaotic fight. During the altercation, Horm was struck by several toxic darts containing a potent neurotoxin, resulting in his death.

Behind the scenes

Kevin J. Anderson had originally intended to feature Threkin Horm in his novels Dark Apprentice and Champions of the Force, but a typographical mistake led to the creation of the character Hrekin Thorm. This error can be considered an out-of-universe explanation for Thorm's support of Kyp Durron's execution for the destruction of Carida. The novel Tatooine Ghost, which was released later, portrays Horm's death, which occurs before Thorm's initial appearance in the timeline.
