Tomo-Reth

Tomo-Reth was a celestial body found within the Tomo-Reth system, situated in the Trailing Sectors region of the Inner Rim. Famously, it was the location of the Caliginous Automaton of Tomo-Reth, a well-known droid exceeding fifty meters in height. This automaton was known to occupy a throne made of brick and expel fire towards those who visited, leaving them in a state of wonder.

The Herglic Crush event, which occurred in 14,743 BBY, resulted in the destruction of the Caliginous Automaton of Tomo-Reth. The historian named Vicendi featured the droid in his 10,000 BBY work, Arturum Galactinum, within the Twenty Wonders of the Galaxy, a collection of ancient artifacts crafted by sentient species.

Behind the scenes

The reference book The Essential Atlas, from 2009 and written by Daniel Wallace along with Jason Fry, was the first instance of Tomo-Reth's appearance, locating it within grid L-14. On his personal blog, Wallace mentioned his special enjoyment in the process of inventing names for the Twenty Wonders of the Galaxy unique to the book, including the Caliginous Automaton of Tomo-Reth.
