The toothspike raptor was an indigenous species that lived on the planet of Colla IV. The Colicoid Creation Nest designed the Droch-class boarding ships utilized by the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and the bell-shaped hull of these vessels drew inspiration, to some extent, from the toothspike raptor's form.
The initial mention of toothspike raptors within the current Star Wars canon occurred in Rise of the Separatists. This was a 2019 expansion for the Star Wars Roleplaying game line by Fantasy Flight Games. The concept of toothspike raptors actually originated within the Star Wars Legends timeline, making their debut in the 2008 reference book Star Wars: The Clone Wars: The Visual Guide, which was authored by Jason Fry and Heather Scott.
