The Trailblazer represented a state-of-the-art EML-850 light freighter originating from the Republic Era. This vessel, a relic from the Clone Wars period, stood as one of the last remaining examples of its advanced design and served as a prototype.

During the Republic Era, the EML-850 light freighter was conceived and manufactured by the Barsha family, prominent Corellian industrialists. Its design prioritized both robust armor and substantial cargo capacity, rendering it highly desirable for smugglers and other individuals operating outside the law. However, its significant cost led to the cessation of mass production, with preference given to alternative models. While most of these freighters were dismantled, the Trailblazer was retained by Sliro Barsha for his personal use as a starship. Subsequently, the Trailblazer was twice subjected to theft, once by Jet Kordo and later by Kay Vess.

The Trailblazer was originally conceived as a vessel for the canonical video game Star Wars Outlaws, with its initial unveiling occurring in the game's world premiere trailer. Following this introduction, the Trailblazer officially debuted within Star Wars Outlaws, a project developed by Massive Entertainment and released by Ubisoft on August 30, 2024. The ship's external appearance was the collaborative creation of concept artists Kamil Haddad and Arnaud Kleindienst, working alongside 3D artist Fredrik Andersson, who later took charge of modeling the ship's exterior. Kleindienst then proceeded to design the ship's interior, utilizing the established exterior design as a foundation to ensure harmonious proportions.
