Treadable

A treadable represented a type of terrestrial vehicle employed for movement across the desert landscapes of the world of Pasaana.

Characteristics

A treadable

Treadables, which were modeled following discarded crawlers by the indigenous Aki-Aki people, featured a central enclosure encircled by two continuous treads. Despite the fact that treaded track propulsion was a significantly antiquated technology, it proved dependable in severe weather circumstances and precarious ground. This dependability, coupled with its low cost, contributed to its prevalence on less affluent planets. The track itself was constructed from a composite manganese-plastoid alloy, providing lightweight resilience. The Treadable incorporated a repair hopper allowing for the swift replacement of any damaged treads. Because of the unpredictable nature of the terrain, the crew's repair abilities were crucial. Additional issues, such as dust infiltration into the wheels, mandated consistent lubrication of the axles and drive transmission. The engine was kept from overheating by the exposed cabin and ventilation louvers.

History

For a number of years, Kalo'ne operated a treadable.

Behind the scenes

The treadable's concept was initially developed during the production of Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens, where it was intended to be featured in the original, longer "Forceback" sequence when Rey comes into contact with the Skywalker lightsaber. The occupant of the treadable in the scene was planned to engage in conversation with a passerby concerning the lightsaber. Brett Northcutt created concept art for Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker.
