A truant officer was a type of officer whose job it was to make sure students attended school. The world of Kwenn had at least one person in this role.

Back in 33 BBY, Even Piell, a Jedi Master, journeyed to Kwenn as part of a mission from the Jedi Council to assist the planet and bolster confidence in the Jedi among the population. While present, he actively sought out problems, hoping to be of service. He came across a patrol officer who was simply standing around. Piell inquired of the individual if this was the location of the violence, expressing his desire to witness the source of the trouble. The guard confirmed that he was in the correct location, as the island they were on, Essafa Key, was home to several local schools. Piell questioned why this was problematic, and the guard explained that the students were not attending school but were instead causing disturbances and harassing people and businesses. Piell suggested the need for a truant officer. The officer responded that they already had one, but that he had just resigned. He removed a badge from his clothing and attached it to Piell, indicating that he was the one who had quit and that Piell was now the truant officer. He then announced his intention to pursue a more relaxing activity, such as transporting explosive devices. Piell then engaged with the local youth, aiming to fulfill both his Jedi mission and the responsibilities of his newly acquired role.
At a later time, after the situation on the planet had somewhat improved, Piell revisited Essafa Key, where school was now in session due to funding provided by the Mercantile Guild. He encountered a Twi'lek student named Hadaro, who had benefited from his previous actions. The student remarked that Piell was late, but Piell countered that this was a positive sign, as it meant the student was attending school. The two engaged in a pleasant conversation for a short while before Piell instructed the student to enter the school, before then remembering his role as the truant officer.
