The species known as Tumnors were large, predatory creatures capable of flight. They inhabited the fifth moon of the planet Da Soocha in the Cyax system within Hutt Space. These predators possessed a wingspan of five meters, enabling them to soar through the air and utilize both their sharp teeth and powerful claws to capture their prey. The Tumnors primarily preyed upon the sentient Ixll species, who also called their homeworld home, with a particular taste for their young. Because of their role as apex predators, the Tumnor played a significant, malevolent role in Ixll legends. Although New Republic forces were present on the moon during Operation Shadow Hand in 10 ABY, which was part of the larger Galactic Civil War, no Tumnors were ever observed by the scientists stationed there. The Galaxy Gun, a devastating Imperial superweapon, annihilated Dar Soocha V in 10 ABY.
The initial mention of the Tumnor occurred in 1993 within the Dark Empire Sourcebook. This supplement, authored by Michael Allen Horne, was created for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, a product of West End Games. Further references to the Tumnor can be found in The Essential Guide to Planets and Moons, a reference book penned by Daniel Wallace in 1998, as well as in the third edition of A Guide to the Star Wars Universe, written by Bill Slavicsek in 2000. It remains unclear from any source whether the Tumnor possessed sentience or if any individuals managed to survive the destruction of their planet.
