Da Soocha

Da Soocha, a planet almost entirely submerged in water, existed within the uncharted Cyax system of Hutt Space.

History

The Hutts greatly revered the star Cyax, although they never actually ventured into the system where it resided. Nevertheless, numerous legends circulated among them regarding a planet enveloped by a sentient, living ocean, warmed by the light of Cyax. The name Da Soocha, when translated from Huttese, literally meant "Waking Planet".

During the time of the Galactic War, the enslaved population on Da Soocha were in the process of organizing a rebellion against their masters.

Jabba the Hutt possessed the precise coordinates for this world within his palace, information that was later pilfered by R2-D2. Around the time of the Battle of Endor, the Rebel Alliance conducted an exploration of the Cyax system and were quite astonished to discover that the Hutt legends held a degree of truth: it was, in fact, a planet largely covered by a vast ocean. As a tribute to the Hutt legend, they officially named the planet Da Soocha.

During Emperor Palpatine's rebirth and subsequent campaign spanning from 10 ABY to 11 ABY, the planet became a refuge for Mon Calamari refugees. These individuals were fleeing the devastating attack by the World Devastator on their homeworld of Dac. The New Republic also established a base on Da Soocha V, an uncharted moon orbiting the planet. However, they were compelled to evacuate when Palpatine employed the Galaxy Gun to obliterate the moon.

The Devastation of Da Soocha.

In 137 ABY, the First Sith Imperial Strikeforce, led by Moff Yage and the two Sith Lords Darth Azard and Vul Isen, released a lethal toxin into the oceans of Da Soocha. This act resulted in the complete annihilation of all marine life, mirroring the devastation inflicted upon Dac. The Sith's motive was to punish the Hutt, Azzim Anjiliac Atirue, for providing sanctuary to Mon Calamari refugees who were escaping the Sith's genocidal actions at the Hutt Temple spa known as Maya Armus on the moon Napdu.

Subsequently, they destroyed the Temple and eliminated all survivors who attempted to escape. However, Xanif, Azzim's Twi'lek servant, successfully transmitted a recording of the Sith's atrocities to his uncle, Vedo Anjiliac Atirue, on the Hutt capital world of Nal Hutta. Despite an Imperial victory, this action ignited the fury of the Hutts, leading them to contact Cade Skywalker, a former Jedi and a persistent adversary of Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire.

Behind the scenes

In Dark Empire 2, Da Soocha is mistakenly referred to as Gla Soocha. However, the PC game Star Wars: Rebellion presents "Gla Soocha" as a frequently used alternative name for the planet.

Rebellion erroneously places Da Soocha within the Abrion sector.

Furthermore, Rebellion's in-game encyclopedia entry for Da Soocha asserts that the Mon Calamari had been utilizing the planet as an evacuation site even prior to the Battle of Yavin, and that the Pinnacle Moon was suspected of harboring a Rebel outpost approximately ten years before the moon was officially charted. This information contradicts its portrayal in the Star Wars: Dark Empire series.
