Tyneir Renz was a male Human who served as a field operative for the Alliance Army. Previously, he was a Jedi Knight within the Jedi Order during the Galactic Republic's final years. As a Clone Wars veteran, Jedi Renz survived the Great Jedi Purge and subsequently became a member of the Rebel Alliance in the time leading up to the Galactic Civil War.
Born on the planet of Jiaan, Tyneir Renz displayed Force-sensitive abilities at a young age, leading to his enrollment at the Coruscant Jedi Temple for training in the Force's ways and the light side. Renz studied at the Temple's academy before receiving one-on-one instruction from a Jedi Master. He successfully passed his Trials of Knighthood and was promoted to the rank of Jedi Knight. As a Jedi Consular, Renz independently pursued studies and developed an interest in archaeology and anthropology as a researcher. Despite his dedication to the Order, Renz broke the Jedi Code and defied the Jedi High Council's wishes by secretly marrying and having two children, a son and a daughter named Padija Anjeri.
When the Separatist Crisis escalated into the war between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Renz returned to Coruscant and assumed the rank of Colonel in the newly established Grand Army of the Republic. While commanding troops in battle, Renz faced General Grievous, the leader of the Separatist Droid Army, during the battle on Parein II 4. Grievous, riding his wheel bike, launched a frontal attack against Renz and two other Jedi, Valin Draco and Sannen. Sannen died, and Draco was presumed dead, but Renz survived, though defeated and wounded.
As the Clone Wars ended abruptly with the Republic and Confederacy's dissolution and the rise of the Galactic Empire, Renz avoided execution by the Grand Army, which had been ordered by the Republic's deceitful Supreme Chancellor to destroy all Jedi. The Chancellor, who was actually the mysterious Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious, had the Temple on Coruscant destroyed and initiated a near-extinction level hunt of all Jedi. Renz evaded capture and briefly reunited with his family on Jiaan before escaping an Imperial blockade. Although he hoped his family would be safe on Jiaan, the Empire invaded the planet, resulting in the death of Renz's family, except for his daughter, whom he rescued. He sent his daughter Padija to live with her in-laws on Alderaan, where she grew into a scholar at the University of Alderaan, studying archaeology, the field in which her father was skilled.
As resistance against the Empire grew, Renz joined the Rebel Alliance, a group seeking to overthrow the Empire and restore democracy. While on a mission as an Alliance field operative, Renz was reunited with his daughter, and they journeyed across the galaxy in search of Imperial-stolen relics. Renz carried a hidden lightsaber he had made before the Clone Wars and protected his daughter to prevent further separation. During a mission to recover crystallite skulls for the Nercathi Twi'lek clan, the pair secured support for the Alliance as thanks for retrieving the artifacts.
Abel G. Peña considered Tyneir Renz as Jerec's Jedi Master, but ultimately chose Jocasta Nu instead.
