The Ufsa family held a position as one of the Nine Ruling Families that constituted the Aristocra within the Chiss Ascendancy. Politically, they were allied with the Irizi, while the Mitth and Obbic family were their rivals. Around 19 BBY, an individual identified as a Speaker served in the role of Speaker for the family.
Ufsa'mak'ro, holding the rank of Mid Captain and serving as the first officer on Mitth'raw'nuruodo's flagship, the Springhawk, was a merit-adoptive member of the Ufsa family. Following the Vagaari pirate operations, which were militarily successful but politically damaging, the Ufsa family's Syndics secretly exchanged favors with members of the Defense Hierarchy Council. This resulted in Senior Captain Thrawn being replaced by Samakro as commander of the Springhawk, although Thrawn regained command of the vessel shortly thereafter.
During the attack on Csilla that occurred near the conclusion of the Clone Wars, the Ufsa family was engaged in a competitive endeavor against the Mitth family. The aim of this competition was to establish a mining operation on Thearterra.
The Ufsa family was initially introduced in the 2020 novel titled Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising. This novel represents the first installment in The Ascendancy Trilogy and was authored by Timothy Zahn.
