Umaren'k'sa

The Umaren'k'sa were a sentient species originating from the planet called Umaren'k, located in the Unknown Regions. Following the arrival of another species, the Hemes Arbora, to their homeworld, the Umaren'k'sa integrated a significant portion of the Arbora's culture into their own society. This cultural shift was triggered by the appearance of the sentient planet Zonama Sekot within the Umaren'k system.

Biology and appearance

The sentient Umaren'k'sa were classified as a distinct species.

Society and culture

This species came from the planet of Umaren'k, situated in the Unknown Regions. The Umaren'k'sa adopted numerous cultural aspects from another sentient species known as the Hemes Arbora.

History

During their history, the Hemes Arbora—a species that came from another world—migrated to Umaren'k. Shortly after this event, the sentient planet Zonama Sekot entered the Umaren'k system. This unusual occurrence led the Umaren'k'sa to embrace many facets of Hemes Arbora culture. The Hemes Arbora eventually departed for the planet Osseriton. The Chiss, another species from the Unknown Regions, were aware of the Umaren'k'sa and possessed records about them within their Expeditionary Library located on the planet Csilla.

In 28 ABY, the Barabel Jedi Knight named Saba Sebatyne came across references to the history of the Umaren'k'sa while searching for information about Zonama Sekot in the Expeditionary Library. She concluded that the Hemes Arbora's arrival in their system had influenced Umaren'k'sa culture.

Behind the scenes

The Umaren'k'sa are briefly referenced in the novel The New Jedi Order: Force Heretic II: Refugee, which was authored by Sean Williams and Shane Dix and published by Del Rey in 2003. In this novel, the Jedi Knight Saba Sebatyne develops a theory regarding Umaren'k'sa culture. However, the book does not explicitly confirm that the Umaren'k'sa are a distinct species. The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, which was released in 2008, features an entry dedicated to the Umaren'k'sa that explicitly identifies them as a species and validates Saba Sebatyne's theories about them.
