On the planet of Biitu, there existed a unique species of plant life: a crop-producing plant. This plant, characterized by its cylindrical, yellow crop, grew amidst verdant leaves. The indigenous Biituians were known for their extensive cultivation of these plants in expansive fields, where they diligently harvested the crops. The situation changed drastically when the Galactic Empire annexed Biitu and deployed a moisture eater to extract moisture from the atmosphere, resulting in widespread death of the plants. Fortunately, a courageous band of rebels defeated the Imperial presence and dismantled the moisture eater, thereby enabling the resurgence of the vital crop plant.
The plant in question featured a green stalk and foliage, the leaves displaying distinct folds along their centers. A yellow, cylindrical crop emerged from the plant's apex, occasionally marked by darker blemishes. When these crops reached maturity, the plant's height was approximately knee-high for a Biituian, the native sentient species of Biitu.
This plant species was endemic to Biitu, an agriworld situated within the Cassander sector. The Biituians traditionally farmed this plant in organized rows, creating large fields and gathering its yields in baskets. However, the establishment of a fuel ore processing plant by the Galactic Empire on the planet led to the plants' demise. An Imperial moisture eater caused a drought by extracting all moisture from the atmosphere. The resistance, spearheaded by the Biituian Fidge and his pet Chubb, alongside the droids C-3PO and R2-D2, and the merchant Mungo Baobab, ultimately resulted in the destruction of the moisture eater and the defeat of the Imperial forces. Subsequently, the Biituians utilized captured Imperials to rehabilitate their crop fields.
This particular crop plant made its debut in The Great Heep, a 1986 television special inspired by Star Wars: Droids, with the script penned by Ben Burtt.
